Instructions for Participants
Blindfolded Sensory Language Experience in Japanese, French, and English
Many thanks from our staff for registering to take part in the International sensory awareness event. We look forward to seeing you on October 25th and sincerely hope that your experience will be an enjoyable one.
The following information applies to both guides and blindfolded participants.
Please bring the following items with you on the day of the event:
- a plastic picnic sheet to sit on if possible( if you bring one, please write your name on it)
- a covered dish (non-perishable lunch) slightly large portion
- writing materials
- eye mask for blindfolded persons(if possible), they are available at the 100 yen shop
- five hundred yen (event fee)
- a warm smile and an open mind
- Please be prepared to manage your own valuables (Ex. bring an easy to wear waist pouch or small bag This pouch or bag should be comfortable to wear across your body during the entire day and it should allow your hands to remain free.)
Arrival times
Staff and helpers should promptly arrive at the Shizuoka Daigaku Kaikan(large hall) at 8:30 a.m.
Guides should promptly arrive at the Shizuoka Daigaku Kaikan(large hall) at 9:10 a.m. (There will be a 15 minute orientation for guides)
Blindfolded participants should promptly arrive at the Shizuoka Daigaku Kaikan (large hall) at 9:30 a.m.
Please refrain from introducing yourself from others upon arrival to the hall. This is why we have arranged for guides and blindfolded participants to arrive at different times. It is our goal not to have guides and blindfolded persons get acquainted with one another until after the event begins.
For participants arriving by bus
If you will be coming by bus please take note of the following bus information: buses bound for Shizuoka University and Oya leave from platform 19 at JR Shizuoka station on Sunday mornings at 8:27, 8:42, and 8:52 (Estimated travel time is twenty minutes). Please allow at least another ten minutes to get from the bus stop in front of the university to the University hall.
For participants arriving by car
(Since there is limited space for automobile parking it is recommended that you make every effort to come to the event by bus or other means of public transportation.
If however, you must come to campus by car, please stop at the main entrance gate and pick up your special Zatokichi parking permit. The gate attendant will inform you of where there is available parking.
The after-event party
There is a party planned for after the Sensory language event. You can decide on the day of the event whether or not you will attend this party.
